Erosionsskadecentrum is a cooperative organisation between coastal municipalities and other organisations with the objective to encourage the development of flexible, cost effective and environmentally friendly reassures against coastal erosion problems.

Erosionsskadecentrum shall follow the relevant scientific progress and keep its members up-to-date on the development of new methods against coastal erosion. Erosionsskadecentrum shall also function as an coordinating organ, advisory body, and promotor of an increased national responibility regarding coastal protection issues. Erosionsskadecentrum is located in Ystad.

EC was founded in 1994 and since then the number of members has increased significantly. Today 21 municipalities are members and we hope that more will be interested in taking part of our knowledge and to share their own experiences.

In addition to the member municipalities, EC has also close cooperation with companies and organizations. Among those are the Engineering Science Council with representatives from Lund University (LU), Stockholm Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), The Danish Coastal Authority (KDI), Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI), SWECO Consulting Engineers, and NCC construction and property development company.

SGI was appointed by the Swedish Government to coordinate all coastal erosion issues within Swedish National Authorities. As being responsible for coordination SGI shall work in support of reducing the risks of erosion and contribute to the remediation of its consequences.
